A 51-year-old woman from Stinchcombe (UK) has been keeping Rolo branded chocolate bars for 36 years. Lynne Brooks said this was a gift from her boyfriend Richard on Valentine’s Day in 1984.
“We didn’t live together at the time so when Richard came to my house before going to working place just to give me a card, some flowers and a Rolo chocolate bar. I was deeply emotional. The chocolate was wrapped very carefully and I remember thinking that I never eat it, I will keep it for the rest of my life,” Lynne said
The 51-year-old mother revealed that on Valentine’s Day in 1984, it was snowing heavily and the temperature was below freezing. That’s also why Lynne was so touched when she saw Richard standing on her doorstep.
Up to now, despite having 3 children together, her boyfriend has also become a husband, but Lynne still considers the gift every year as a treasure. The woman kept the Rolo in a small wooden box and was extremely proud of it.
“My kids and colleagues all thought it was a bit crazy to keep the chocolate bar for so long. But sometimes I still take the box out for everyone to see, especially on special occasions like Valentine’s Day. Every year on Valentine’s Day we have a romantic candlelit meal. The couple will exchange love cards and Richard will give me some fragrant flowers again,” shared Lynne happily.
